Shorts Calcutta This model first flew in 1984, powered by a Cox Babe Bee. It wasn't flown much, because I didn't like the way it flew with the unthrottled motor. Now [2006], converted to electric power, with light radio gear and a LIPO battery, it is enjoying a new lease of life. Span 41".......25 oz.........10 oz/sq ft.........one Speed 400/7.2.......small Gunther prop.......1000 mAh, 3S LIPO... Rudder and elevator controls are via Kevlar closed-loop. Wings are 3/16 balsa. Struts are .036 steel wire. The motor pulls about 9 amps, so full-throttle must be used sparingly. |
