SHORT CALCUTTA
First flown 1989....retired 2001....span 55"....60 oz....13 oz per sq ft....powered by one OS10....elevator and aileron controls....mostly balsa....wings are solid quarter-inch sheet....
Reluctantly retired after much flying and numerous prangs. (Does anyone make a talking transmitter which tells you which model is selected ?)
Originally flown with rudder and elevator. Ailerons retro-fitted with difficulty; shouldn't have bothered.
Cleaning fuel residues from this kind of model is almost impossible. An electric-powered replacement won't have this problem.
Thanks to Jim Dobson of the Skelmersdale club for the top photo.
