Every so-often I check on the state of the art of Lipo batteries. In the past, I have always decided "not yet". But maybe the time has come.

Recent developments make them safer, and make retrofit easier.

There are now plenty of slim packs which will fit into bays designed for subC and 4/5 SC cells. Also of interest are the on-board low-voltage cut-offs which monitor individual cells. In addition to their main purpose of safeguarding your costly Lipos, they enable the retention of existing ESCs with 5V cut-off.
