News 21 March 2009 The building season has been devoted almost entirely to conversion of models from can motors to brushless outrunners. Five done, five to go. There is a difficulty in choosing suitable motors from the large selection now on offer; the published data is unhelpful to an absurd degree. In order to be better-informed, I have made a torque balance, and have spent some hours testing . Very instructive! The photo shows the Lancastrian, now with 39gram outrunners, and scale propellers. [Colour is actually aluminium. Must have been the dull light] Another time-consuming activity is comparing 2.4GHz gear. My 6-channel Futaba works well, but I need a more-capable Tx. Looks like I will have to get a Jeti module for my Evo 9.
