Onboard interference       Two different ESCs, and two different BECs, bought recently, have proved to be unusable with a 35MHz radio link. On the bench they appear to work normally, but a range test shows severe interference at only five metres. All the palliative measures have been tried, with no success. Change to a 2.4GHz radio link and there is no interference.

After a two-month delay due to the above difficulties, my SM74 is now flying with the geared 400s replaced by brushless outrunners [cheepos, Tower pro 2408-21T-3A]. The economy gearboxes were showing severe wear after very few flights.

Four brushless motors necessitate a tangle of electrics [photo].

How to retrofit twelve insulated motor wires in the wing? My solution is to use varnish-insulated 18 gauge single-strand wires embedded in the balsa leading-edge [sketch]. Black film, representing the de-icing boots, will cover them up.
